Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of medicine in which the function of the spine is integral to the overall health of the body. The founding father of osteopathy,A. T. Still, believed that healthy tissues needs a good supply of blood, hence the importance of massage during treatment. He also championed treating the body as a whole rather than individual parts. Therefore, when treating a client the osteopath will look further away from the injured tissue to find and treat the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms.

Manipulation of the spinal joints result in a ‘popping’ sound and this treatment method is used to correct and alleviate conditions of the spinal joints (facet joints). An osteopath may treat several areas of the spine to help prevent as well as correct spinal joint injury.
